Safely rebuild your strength, with your baby beside you

Led by our pre & post-natal specialist.

Our new Mums Small Group PT is a dedicated 50-minute session built around one thing: you, training safely with your baby right beside you. Bring your little one along, train alongside other local mums going through exactly the same stage, and get 50 minutes back in your week that's entirely yours.

Not a generic class, and not the guesswork of going it alone or the intensity of 1:1 PT just to feel safe. It's how you return to exercise properly, led by Scarlet, our specialist postnatal trainer, and a mum herself.

Meet your coach: Scarlet

Trusting someone with your recovery after having a baby is a big deal, and Scarlet isn't just qualified for that; she's lived it. As a mum of one herself, she knows exactly what it's like to balance a newborn with wanting your body and your routine back.

That's not separate from her expertise; it's why her coaching works. On top of that first-hand experience, she's spent 5 years as a pre- and postnatal specialist, working with countless mums through exactly this stage of recovery, so she knows precisely how to safely rebuild your core, pelvic floor, and overall strength without guessing. She's not coaching you from a textbook. She's been exactly where you are.

Scarlet, our dedicated pre & post-natal specialist at FitnessWorks

Why this programme works

  • Getting your routine back: This is about much more than just fitness. It's about carving out 50 minutes in your week that's entirely yours, surrounded by a supportive community of other local mums.

  • Safety and attention (max 4 mums per group): We've deliberately reduced our Small Group PT sessions from 6 down to 4. That freed-up space lets us redesign the studio specifically to safely accommodate you and your little one, side by side, not squeezed in as an afterthought. It also means Scarlet can give you the dedicated attention and expert oversight you need to train safely. It's real personal training, just shared.

  • Built around your schedule: We know logistics are the hardest part of leaving the house right now. Sessions are scheduled around common nap times to make life a little easier.

  • Your baby belongs here: This isn't a session you can just 'bring' your baby to; it's one built around the fact that you will. No childcare, no guilt, no working around your little one. There'll be a room full of babies right alongside you, because that's exactly how it should be. And if you need to stop mid-session to feed, wind, or settle, you just do it, no explaining required. The session moves around you and your baby, together, every time.

  • Anti "snap-back": Your body carried and grew a whole human being. It doesn't need to "snap back" to anything; it needs time, patience, and the right kind of strength work to feel like yours again. We're not interested in fast fixes or comparing you to how you looked before. We meet you exactly where you are, physically and mentally, and build from there, safely, properly, at your pace.

"After having two children close together I was feeling a bit nervous about restarting my fitness journey. The team at FitnessWorks made me feel at ease from our first session, they're so knowledgeable and motivating, I've enjoyed and look forward to every session. I have nearly completed three months and will be continuing. I’ve seen huge differences is my body composition, energy levels, posture and strength, particularly in my core."

FAQs

How soon after birth can I start?

We recommend joining after your 6-week postnatal check, once you’ve been cleared to exercise by your GP or midwife. If you'd like to start sooner, that's fine too as long as you have explicit medical clearance—just let us know at sign-up.

What if my baby needs feeding or gets upset mid-session?

It is completely normal and nothing to worry about. Feed, wind, or settle your baby whenever they need it. The session flexes around you, not the other way around. Just rejoin the group whenever you're ready.

Is this safe after a C-section?

Yes. Scarlet has designed each programme with scalable alternatives for all mums. C-section recovery typically needs a little longer before clearance (always confirmed by your own GP), so just flag it at sign-up and we'll adjust your first few sessions accordingly.

Do I need any prior fitness experience?

None at all. Sessions are coached and personally scaled to wherever you are starting from, whether this is your first time exercising in months or you trained right up until giving birth.

What should I bring?

Comfortable workout clothing and trainers, a water bottle, and whatever you'd normally take out with your baby for an hour (nappies, feeding kit, a comforter, or muslin). We provide all the training equipment.

What if I can't make a session, can I switch groups?

With more than 24 hours' notice, we'll do our absolute best to move you into another session that week, subject to space. Inside 24 hours, our standard cancellation policy applies and the session is forfeited (full details in our terms).

Should I bring a stroller or a baby carrier?

We'd recommend carriers/strollers, as it gives us more room to keep sessions safe with four mums training at once and let you keep hands free and your baby close throughout.

Terms & Conditions

All sessions operate a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. Any cancellation within this window will forfeit the session. By purchasing this package, you confirm you have received clearance from your GP or midwife to take part in postnatal exercise, and you agree to inform us of any relevant medical conditions (e.g., C-section, diastasis recti, pelvic floor concerns) before your first session. You remain entirely responsible for the supervision and care of your child during the session. FitnessWorks trainers are there to coach the group and do not provide childcare or assume responsibility for child supervision. Photos or videos from sessions or shared in our community chat will only ever include your child if you have given explicit consent, which is captured separately at sign-up. By purchasing, you agree to the full terms & conditions set by FitnessWorks, attached to the booking package.
